About Thinking Cows

Thinking Cows developed out of Mark Burgemeister's interest in Dairy Cattle Nutrition. With more than 10 years experience as a dairy cattle veterinarian in Northern Victoria, and post-graduate study in Ruminant Nutrition, Mark brings scientific nutritional principles to the practical need to optimise animal health and productivity.

Academic qualifications

  • Member Australian College of Veterinary Scientists (by examination) -- Animal Nutrition (Ruminant), 1997
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (with Honours), University of Melbourne, 1989

Industry positions

  • Australian College of Veterinary Scientists Assistant Examiner Ruminant Nutrition 1999, 2000. Head Subject Examiner 2001.
  • CountDown DownUnder Farmer Short Courses Trainer in mastitis control and management.
  • Target 10 (a division of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, TAFE) Lecturer in nutritional management, ration formulation, herd and replacement management
